Through Broken Glass
I have always had a fascination with how glass refracts light and distorts imagery depending on its refractive index. From one angle - what can be viewed through so clearly that it almost ceases to exist, can also warp an image when viewed from another angle. In this art piece I wanted to explore this concept further. The footage of the model was filmed through broken glass held in front of the camera lens, and the light was positioned in a way that helped obscure the image further via refraction.
The animation was a literal and exaggerated visual interpretation of this prism like characteristic. And the sound was created to frame the piece in a somewhat hypnotic context.
